Dr. Crystal Klaahsen grew up in Minnesota where she graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience. In 2002, Dr. Klaahsen moved to Massachusetts to continue her education at the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Her education at the New England College of Optometry was very well rounded and gave Dr. Klaahsen excellent opportunities to explore the world of optometry.
Before graduating from the New England College of Optometry, Dr. Klaahsen was able to study under some wonderful doctors at different clinics and hospitals around Boston. She worked in the Cotting School, Hanscom Air Force Base, VA Hospital in Bedford, Boston Medical Center, and South Boston Community Health Center to name a few. Her varied clinical rotations have helped her become the great eye doctor that she is today.
In June 2006, Dr. Klaahsen received her Doctorate of Optometry. After graduation, Dr. Klaahsen joined a private practice in Burlington, MA, where she perfected her examination skills. She has also given several eye health talks to the elderly. Dr. Klaahsen feels that it is very important to educate people on their eye health and the simple things they can do to preserve their vision.
In 2010 Dr. Klaahsen became the doctor for General Optical Co. a very familiar place to her. From 2003 to 2006, she worked as an optical technician for General Optical Co. Dr. Klaahsen was excited at the opportunity to come back and serve the people that she helped all those years ago with glasses. “General Optical Co. and the staff are like family to me. I’m lucky that I get to work in a place that feels like home.” reports Doctor Klaahsen.
On New Year’s Eve 2013 Dr. Klaahsen and her husband Chad welcomed Ava and Colin into their family. The twins have kept Dr. Klaahsen pretty busy. Occasionally Ava & Colin can be seen visiting General Optical Company.
