Dr. Thakore embarked on her journey in the field of optometry at the University of Aston in Birmingham, UK. Following her initial studies, she moved to Boston, where she further honed her skills by completing the Advanced Standing International Program at the New England College of Optometry (NECO). Her residency at the Dorchester House Community Centre provided her with invaluable experience and a solid foundation in community-based care.
Dr. Thakore’s career is distinguished by a diverse range of experiences across several countries. She has worked in the UK and Kenya, enriching her global perspective on optometry. In the United States, she served as a clinical preceptor at the Dimock Health Center, where she guided the next generation of optometrists. Her expertise extends to telemedicine consultations at the Beetham Eye Institute at the Joslin Diabetes Center and the New England Eye Center (NEEC) at Tufts Medical Center, where she also taught contact
lens fitting to residents.
Dr. Thakore specializes in Dry Eye Management, Specialty Contact Lens Fitting for Keratoconus, Pellucid Marginal Degeneration, and Ocular Surface Disease and
Orthokeratology for Myopia Management in addition to her primary eyecare practice. Dr. Thakore’s rich background is shaped by her upbringing in Kenya and her journey through England to Boston. Her career is a tapestry of experiences, each phase contributing to her growth and excellence, especially under the mentorship of esteemed professionals and colleagues she encountered along the way.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Thakore enjoys spending quality time with her family, indulging in her passions for reading, cooking and experimenting in the kitchen, dancing, and enjoying the outdoors.
